Focus and Scope

The Warwick Journal of Education - Transforming Teaching (WJETT) is an online, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality articles in the field of education. This includes (but is not limited to) practitioner research, whole school initiatives and case studies as well as issues relating to educational leadership, professional development and teacher education.

WJETT is intended for practising teachers and school leaders as well as an audience of academics. Its remit is to bring these communities of practice closer together, in order to promote evidence-based practice within classrooms and transform teaching and learning in schools. It is a platform for professionals to disseminate best practice and share innovative pedagogy.

The journal is Open Access and without a fee. Submissions are welcome from first time authors as well as experienced writers and researchers. WJETT predominantly considers work related to the Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Further Education sectors. Peer Review Process

All submitted articles and literature reviews for general, non-special issues are initially read by a member of the editorial board before being sent out for outside review. Special issue submissions are read by all members of the editorial board and may be subject to peer review. Peer-reviewed work will usually be sent to two reviewers: one experienced researcher in a relevant field and an appropriate professional / practitioner.

Book reviews, conversations and critical reflections are typically non-peer-reviewed, but will be checked by a member of the editorial team.

Publication Frequency

WJETT will, in the first instance, publish a single issue annually in June or early July. There is scope to increase the fequency of publication at a later date when the journal gathers more momentum, subject to an adequate volume of high-quality submissions.

There will be a hard copy print run of the inaugural issue but printing of subsequent issues will be subject to funding. All issues will be available online, with all articles released simultaneously once the whole issue is ready.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.  Unless otherwise stated submissions are made available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share-Alike 4.0 license.
